Oppo Find X9 Pro to be first phone to feature Samsung HP5 for periscope camera

In September this year, MediaTek may unveil the Dimensity 9500, and it is likely that the Find X9 series equipped with the said chip will debut in the same month. One of the major changes expected to arrive on the Oppo Find X9 Pro is that it will not feature dual periscope cameras like the Find X8 Pro. It is being said that the dual periscope solution is being reserved for the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2-powered Find X9 Ultra, which is expected to launch in the first half of 2026. Today, tipster Digital Chat Station released a Weibo post revealing the camera sensor that will power the single 200-megapixel periscope telephoto snapper of the X9 Pro.

According to DCS, the 200-megapixel Samsung HP5 sensor could first appear on the Find X9 Pro. Its key specifications include a pixel size of 0.5?m and a 1/1.56-inch sensor size, with support for DCG-HDR (Dual Conversion Gain HDR) technology for improved dynamic range.

DCS mentioned that the Find X9 Pro is currently undergoing active testing with a 50-megapixel (main) + 50-megapixel (ultra-wide) + 200-megapixel (periscope) camera setup. He also claimed that the image quality is good within 10x zoom, but cautioned that its telephoto capabilities might not surpass dual periscope setups.

Previous reports have revealed that the Find X9 Pro will feature a flat OLED panel measuring 6.78 inches. It is expected to support a 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and feature an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor. It is likely to run on Android 16 with a layer of ColorOS 16 on top.

At present, there is no information about the Find X9 Pro’s front camera, battery size, or charging capabilities. However, it is expected to feature a metal middle frame and an IP68/69-rated body.
