Realme brand that was born through Oppo became the first company to use MediaTek’s Helio P70 chipset on its Realme U1 smartphone. Fresh information reveals that the Oppo R19 smartphone arriving in early 2019 will be driven by the more powerful Helio P80 chipset.
There is no accurate information available on the specifications of the Helio P80 chipset. The OPPO R-series have always been sold as upper mid-range phones. The OPPO R15 that was launched in March was fueled by Helio P60. The Oppo R17 and R17 Pro phones that were announced in August are respectively powered by Snapdragon 670 and Snapdragon 710 chipsets. Now that the company is rumored to be using the Helio P80 for OPPO R19, the SoC may deliver better performance than SD670 and SD710 chipsets.
It is speculated that the Helio P80 will be manufactured by TSMC through 12nm FinFET processing technology. The octa-core chip is expected to arrive with improved architecture and better AI capabilities. There is a possibility that it will include the Mali-G72 GPU that is available on the Helio P70 SoC. There is no information available on the specifications of the Oppo R19 smartphone. Now that the Samsung and Huawei phones are prepping up to launch phones with in-screen camera hole design enabled smartphones, it is likely that the Oppo R19 may also debut with similar design.
