OPPO Reno 11 Pro Review: The Best “Reno” Experience So Far!

OPPO recently unveiled it’s next-generation’s Reno 11 Pro smartphone in the local market that brought along several noteworthy updates including a brand new design and chipset that makes it an even better deal than before. However, it’s S$899 asking price means it’ll be facing steep competition against plenty other attractive mid-rangers from phone makers like Samsung and Xiaomi.

So, does it has what it takes to stand out within this highly competitive segment? Let’s find out in our full review of the OPPO Reno 11 Pro 5G!

OPPO Reno 11 Pro: Design

If design is what you’re looking for in your next smartphone, then look no further than the new Reno 11 Pro which in my opinion, is one of the best-looking mid-range model in the market at this point of time.

The Rock Grey model I had for review comes with a sleek and classy design featuring the company’s iconic Reno Glow finish that gives off bright and soft silver-grey glistens like sand under a striking sunset. Likewise, the phone also features an updated Sunshine Ring camera design that goes remarkably well with the overall design of the phone.

Apart from its flattering design, the Reno 11 Pro also offers excellent in-hand feel thanks to its ultra-slim and lightweight chassis which not only makes it comfortable to hold for long-hours, but is also great for single-handed use during my daily commuting.

To take things even further, the Reno 11 Pro also features a frosted glass back which undoubtedly adds an extra touch of opulence to the overall handling experience. The only gripe I have is perhaps the lack of IP rating which is definitely something nice to have on a device of this price point.

OPPO Reno 11 Pro: Display

Over on the front side, the OPPO Reno 11 Pro greets us with a spacious 6.78” curved display which adopts a centered punch-hole design to accommodate a 32 megapixels front-facing camera that handles selfies and video calls on the device.

As usual, the front display is based on a high-end AMOLED panel that’s able to get impressively bright when using the phone in an outdoor environment. It supports a FHD+ screen resolution along with a wide DCI-P3 wide color gamut which delivers sharp and realistic viewing experience regardless whether I was streaming videos or playing games.

Speaking of mobile gaming, most would be glad to hear that the HDR10+ certified display is also able to support up to 120Hz refresh rate which enhances gaming experience by providing a smoother gameplay (on supported game titles).

Also, to protect the display against accidental drops and scratches, the screen itself is backed by an extra layer of Asahi Glass AGC which is certainly a much needed feature for people like me with butterfingers.

OPPO Reno 11 Pro: Performance & Battery Life

Under the hood, the OPPO Reno 11 Pro is helmed by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 8200 chipset which is more than capable enough to handle any tasks you threw at it, be it mobile gaming or high-res video editing. In terms of performance, this is certainly a nice upgrade over the Snapdragon 778G chipset that was used on last year’s Reno 10 Pro.

Coupled with an ample 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, the Reno 11 Pro also promises smooth multi-tasking experiences with seamless transition when switching across different apps. Other than that, it also comes with a generous 512GB storage which allows you to store plenty of apps and other media contents without resorting to cloud storage.

Editors’ Picks

To keep it’s lights on, the Reno 11 Pro is powered by a respectable 4,600mAh battery which has no issue lasting though a typical work day with some juice to spare. As with any other OPPO Reno series devices, the main highlight actually lies in its blazing-fast 80W SuperVOOC charging solution that’s able recharge a completely flat battery from 0 to 100% in around 40 minutes.

OPPO Reno 11 Pro: Cameras

Moving on to the imaging side of things, the OPPO Reno 11 Pro is equipped with a highly capable triple-camera system that’s able to capture exceptional photos which are comparable to those taken by smartphones that are twice it’s price. For the main camera. it uses Sony’s flagship IMX890 imaging sensor that features a large 1/1.56” sensor size and a fast f/1.8 aperture for improved low-light performance.

Regardless of lighting condition, it’s 50MP main camera never fails to capture stunning photos with crisp details and excellent dynamic range that allow them to look flattering and yet realistic. Along with a powerful night mode feature, the camera also boast superior low-light performance that’s able to turn a dull-looking photo into a social media-worthy one.

For faraway shots, the OPPO Reno 11 Pro comes with a usable 32MP telephoto camera that offers 2x optical zoom and up to 20x digital zoom. Despite being primarily a mid-ranger, the phone is able to capture high quality zoomed shots with relatively low amount of noise even at the maximum zoom level.

However, the area where the telephoto camera really shines is when taking portrait photography. Combined with the new Portrait Expert Engine, the camera is able to capture natural-looking portraits with incredible subject, object, and edge separation. On top of that, it also offers a new adjustable bokeh feature that allows photographer to adjust focus more precisely.

As for landscape photography, the Reno 11 Pro’s 8MP ultra-wide camera is also able to click some pretty good-looking photos with decent amount of details and dynamic range even though it uses a slightly downgraded sensor as opposed to the main and telephoto camera.

Verdict

The OPPO Reno 11 Pro isn’t just a great phone for day-to-day use, but is also a perfect companion for all your entertainment and photography needs. Hence, if you’re in the market for an affordable smartphone that cost less than a thousand, the new Reno 11 Pro is definitely one of the best option which you should totally consider.

For those who’re interested, the OPPO Reno 11 Pro is priced at just S$899 in Singapore and is available for purchase through OPPO Official Online Store, OPPO Concept Stores, OPPO Shopee, Lazada, Qoo10, and TikTok Online Flagship Stores, iShopChangi Online Store, as well as at Consumer Electronics Retailers and Authorised Channel Partners (Best Denki, Challenger, Courts, Gain City, Harvey Norman, Popular).
