OPPO Reno10 Pro+ Review: A Stunning Phone with Amazing Cameras & Performance

The OPPO Reno8 (Review) and Reno8 Pro (Review) which we reviewed earlier on were among our favorite mid-range models that impress in pretty every aspects of the smartphone, be it work or entertainment. To carry on it’s success, the company recently announced the new Reno10 series smartphones in the local market comprising of three different models that include the likes of the Reno10 5G, Reno10 Pro 5G as well as the top-of-the-line Reno10 Pro+ 5G which we’ll be checking out in this review.

After using the Reno10 Pro+ as my daily driver for more than two weeks, it’s safe to say that this is yet another great offering from the Chinese smartphone giant. However, does it really have what it takes to justify it’s $1,149 asking price? Let’s check out in our OPPO Reno10 Pro+ review!

Sleek & Elegant Design

OPPO’s Reno series smartphones have always for their sleek and elegant design which not only looks attractive, but also offers a top-notch handling experience in day-to-day usage thanks to their super slim form factor. The new Reno10 Pro+ is certainly no exception in this aspect.

It comes with a slim profile measuring just 8.3mm which is even slimmer than the company’s flagship Find X5 Pro (Review), and pretty much any other high-end devices in the market. Most would also appreciates it’s tall design that makes the phone easier to hold or use with one hand especially in a crowded train.

OPPO Reno10 Pro+ Design -3

Unlike last year’s Reno8 Pro+, the Reno10 Pro+ features a revamped oval-shaped camera module which houses a trio of camera lenses laid out in an inverted L-shaped format. For me, the new camera design certainly looks neater and is way less obtrusive than the large square-shaped protrusion on the Reno8 Pro+.

The unit I had for review comes in a Silvery Grey colorway which gives the phone a slightly understated and yet classy outlook. Otherwise, it’s also available in Glossy Purple for those who prefer a more attention-grabbing colorway that really stands out from the crowd.

Over on the front side, the OPPO Reno10 Pro+ greets us with a spacious 6.74” display which flaunts a pair of subtle curves that run along the edge of the screen, offering a near full screen experience with an impressive 93.9% screen-to-body ratio. Speaking of the display, it’s a high-end AMOLED panel with FHD+ screen resolution as well as a fast 120Hz refresh rate that makes scrolling and animation feel much smoother on the screen.

To take things even further, the HDR10+ certified display also supports 10-bit color depth and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage which ensure colors are rendered more accurately for a more realistic and immersive viewing experience when watching your favorite Netflix series.

Likewise, the display also has no issue getting sufficiently bright whenever I was using the phone in an outdoor environment. This is actually important as it ensures the screen remain visible when doing outdoor photography on a bright sunny afternoon.

Snappy Performance

Sitting at the heart of the Reno10 Pro+ is a high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 mobile platform which was used in many flagship phones such as the ROG Phone 6 and Xiaomi 12S Ultra to name a few. No doubt, this is a pretty huge upgrade over the MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Max chipset used in last year’s Reno8 Pro+.

In terms of day-to-day usage, you can expect an amazing smartphone experience with buttery-smooth performance when working and switching between multiple apps. Likewise, I also hardly encounter any tinge of lag when playing high intensity game titles such as PUBG New State and COD Mobile which normally take up a big chunk of resources from the GPU and CPU end especially if the game is played at higher settings.

To supplement that, OPPO has also equipped the Reno10 Pro+ with an advanced, Ultra-Conductive Cooling System aimed to keep the phone cool even under extensive pressure – allowing users to ensure a smooth and enjoyable gameplay with stable frame rate.

Moving on to the memory side of things, the OPPO Reno10 Pro+ is offered in a single 12GB+256GB configuration which leverages the latest LPDDR5 RAM and UFS3.1 to ensure a quick and snappy multi-tasking experience.

Pro-Grade Camera System

Now let’s talk about the most exciting part of this device – it’s camera system. The Reno10 Pro+ has a grand total of three cameras at the back lead by a flagship-grade 50MP Sony IMX890 main camera alongside an 8 megapixels ultra-wide camera and a 64MP telephoto camera.

Regardless of lighting condition, the main camera is able to capture flattering photos with excellent dynamic range and details that are comparable to those taken by more expensive flagship phones. Likewise, the presence of OIS stabilization also makes it easier to capture sharp-looking photo even when there are some movements.

As with any other OPPO smartphones, the Reno10 Pro+ also has a remarkable night mode feature which harnesses computational photography to enhance the brightness and exposure of the photos, resulting in clear and vivid photos in any dimly lit scenes.

Apart from it’s capable main camera, another standout feature here include the 64MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and up to 120x digital zoom that allows you to capture distant subjects with great clarity even at maximum zoom level (check out the clip above if you don’t believe!).

As for the 8 megapixels ultra-wide camera, it might be a step down from the main camera but it’s still able to capture some pretty good-looking photos with decent details and dynamic range across different lighting conditions.

Battery & Charging

To keep it’s lights on, the OPPO Reno10 Pro+ is backed by a respectable 4,700mAh battery which is able to support slightly more than a day’s worth of usage on a single charge. Putting them into numbers, this translates to around 9 hours of screen time with 2 hours of gaming in between.

The main highlight however, lies in OPPO’s proprietary 100W SUPERVOOC Flash charging that’s capable of delivering a full charge from 0 to 100% in merely 40 minutes, and 0 to 50% in 10 minutes if don’t have that much time to spare. This puts it ahead of many flagship phones such as Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra and Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro in the charging department.

Like most other recent smartphones with fast-charging capability, the Reno10 Pro+ charging system also passed the Tüv Rheinland Safe Fast-Charge System Certification which ensures the phone is able to recharge safely at high speed. This is an important aspect which I’m glad smartphone makers are placing an increasing emphasize on.

Verdict

The OPPO Reno10 Pro+ is a phone with plenty to love about, from it’s amazing smartphone performance to it’s class-leading camera system that makes it a perfect option under $1,500. Put it simply, it’s a sub-flagship price smartphone with flagship-level specs.

For those who’re interested, the OPPO Reno10 Pro+ is priced at S$1,149 in Singapore and is available for purchase through OPPO Concept Stores, OPPO Official Online Store as well as OPPO’s Lazada, Qoo10, Shopee, and partner consumer online stores such as Challenger and iShopChangi.
