After a long wait, the feverishly-anticipated OPPO Reno2 and Reno2 Z finally made their official debut in Singapore. As it’s name suggests, the Reno 2 is the second iteration of the company’s highly successful Reno smartphone series.
OPPO Reno2 Specifications
For starter, the OPPO Reno2 arrives with a 6.5-inches display with an immersive 1080 x 2400 pixels screen resolution and has a 20:9 tall aspect ratio. It’s front panel is shielded by the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 6 which protects the display against accidental drops and scratches.
Under the hood, the OPPO Reno2 is driven by an octa-core, Snapdragon 730G SoC – which brings along select Snapdragon Elite Gaming features to improve the gaming experience for it’s users. In it’s memory compartment, there is 8GB worth of RAM and a hefty 256GB onboard storage space which is further expandable by up to 256GB via it’s dedicated microSD slot.
On it’s rear chassis, the OPPO Reno2 offers a quad-camera setup which comprises of a 48 megapixels (f/1.7 aperture) main snapper, a 13 megapixels (f/2.4 aperture) telephoto sensor, an 8 megapixels (f/2.2 aperture) ultrawide sensor, as well as a 2 megapixels monochrome sensor. In terms of it’s zooming capabilities, the Reno2 is able to achieve up to 5X hybrid zoom and 20X digital zoom – which remains pretty impressive compared to other flagship models in the current market.
Similar to the first generation’s OPPO Reno, the Reno2 will still maintain a shark fin-style selfie camera which house a 16 megapixels (f/2.0 aperture) sensor. According to the company, the Reno 2 is the world’s first pop-up camera that offers bokeh effect video which allows users to record bokeh video selfies with movie-like quality.
Beneath the device, the OPPO Reno2 is fueled by a 4,000mAh battery which supports 20W VOOC Flash Charge 3.0 out of the box. Software-wise, the device is loaded with the latest ColorOS 6.1 based on the Android Pie OS.
OPPO Reno2 Z Specifications
For those who do not fancy those high-end specs offered by the OPPO Reno 2, there is a more affordable option available – OPPO Reno 2z.
Design-wise, the Reno2 Z shares pretty much the same design language as the Reno2, except the absence of a shark fin-style pop up camera.
Unlike the Reno2, the Reno2 Z is driven by a slightly watered-down Helio P90 SoC, developed by Mediatek. Likewise, it’s onboard storage space had also been downgraded by halve, to just 128GB.
As for the camera compartment, there will still be a quad-camera setup on the rear chassis. However, the telephoto lens found in Reno2 will instead be substituted with a 2 megapixels depth sensor.
That’s pretty much the only core differences which set the two devices apart.
