Last year, OPPO announced the OPPO Find N as its first-ever foldable smartphone. The device’s availability is limited to China, and it is unclear whether it will ever make it to global markets. According to publication Sohu, which cites reliable tipster Digital Chat Station as the source, OPPO will be launching its first clamshell phone with a foldable display this year.
The tipster has claimed that the OPPO clamshell foldable phone will have an inward folding design like other flip phones with foldable screens, such as the Galaxy Z Flip3 and Motorola Razr 5G. This device is tipped to carry a 5,000 Yuan ($756) price range.
The Huawei P50 Pocket flip phone carries a starting price of 8,988 Yuan ($1,346) in China. The Galaxy Z Flip3 has a starting price of 7,399 Yuan ($1,120). Hence, it appears that OPPO’s clamshell will arrive with a competitive price tag.
The final marketing name of the device is not known yet. It remains to be seen whether it will be called the OPPO Flip N or something else. Unfortunately, nothing else is known about the specifications of the device.
The leak also reveals that OPPO is planning to launch a new foldable phone that will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chipset. For those who are unaware, Qualcomm is expected to announce the chipset this month. It is expected to arrive as an overclocked edition of the existing SD8G1 chip. The tipster claims that the device will sport an inward folding design and will come in a 7,000 Yuan ($1,060) price range.
