In October, a Chinese tipster had claimed that OPPO will launch a phone powered by a custom-made chipset called the Snapdragon 870. As the name suggests it will be more powerful than the Snapdragon 865 flagship SoC that powered most Android flagship phones this year. The tipster is back with some more information about the mysterious SoC.
Just as the tipster had previously claimed, his new leak states that the Snapdragon 870 offers clocking speeds of 3.2GHz. The tipster has claimed that the SD870 is an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 865 that ticks at 2.84GHz.
The Adreno 650 GPU of the Snapdragon 865 operates at 600MHz. The tipster revealed that the GPU of the SD870 functions at 905MHz. The SD870 is unlikely to power the flagship phone of the Reno 5 series.
Recent reports have revealed that the Reno5 has Snapdragon 765G. Its higher version is driven by the Dimensity 1000 or Dimensity 1000+ SoC. The topmost model in the Reno5 series is said to be equipped with the Snapdragon 865 chipset. Hence, it remains to be seen which OPPO phone will feature the SD870 chipset.
The Find X3 series may include Find X3 and Find X3 Pro. While the Pro is likely to feature the Snapdragon 875, it remains to be seen whether the vanilla variant comes with SD870.
