POCO is Now Independent Brand; New Phones Coming This Year

POCO F1 smartphone that was unveiled in August 2018 in India had met with outstanding response from critics and audience. However, the company did not launch a successor device in 2019. The rumor mill claimed that the Xiaomi may have abandoned its sub-brand. Today, an official confirmation has come from Xiaomi Global Vice President and Managing Director for India that POCO is a now legal entity and it will launch new devices this year.

Even Alvin Tse, the Global Head of POCO brand confirmed that it will be an exciting year for the newly separated brand. In an interview with YouTuber Technical Guruji, Jain revealed that the POCO brand will make an announcement on its plans for 2020.

Currently, the brand has two products in the market, the first one is the POCO F1 smartphone and the second one is its POCO Launcher. Jain revealed that the brand will launch new products this year. This indicates that there will be multiple products from the POCO brand.

Commenting on the POCO F1’s successor, Jain said that the handset will impress in aspects like speed, gaming capabilities and photography. Apart from these details, he did not share anything on the rumored POCO F2.

The successor of the POCO F1 is likely to arrive with POCO F2 moniker since the name was recently trademarked by Xiaomi. Moreover, the POCO X2 could be another phone heading to India apart from POCO F2. The mysterious POCO X2 phone was recently spotted on Geekbench with specs like 1.8GHz processor, Android 10 OS, 8 GB of RAM and ‘phoenixin’ codename. It is believed that the POCO X2 could be a rebranded Redmi K30 phone that has Phoenix codename. Also, the alleged POCO X2 has bagged certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in India.
