OCO will soon launch the POCO M5 smartphone in India. Today, the company released the first teaser of the phone. The teaser hints at the processor and the rear design of the phone.
The teaser image does not mention the name of the device. However, a recent leak claimed that the POCO M5 would debut by early September in India. So, it seems like the company has started to tease about the M5 coming to the country.
The image hints that the POCO M5 will be powered by the Helio G99 chipset. It can be said based on the chipset of the device that the M5 will not support 5G connectivity. The other thing that the image has is a textured design on the back panel. Rumors are rife that the device will be equipped with a leather back.
Speculations are rife that there will be an NFC variant of the POCO M5. The non-NFC edition of the device will be aimed at India, whereas the global market will get the variant with NFC support. The device is speculated to feature a 90Hz LCD FHD+ display, at least 6 GB of RAM, up to 128 GB of storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging, and Android 12 OS.
Apart from India, the POCO M5 4G is expected to be released in other markets since it has been approved by the FCC in the US, NBTC in Thailand, and IMDA in Singapore. In India, it is likely to cost under Rs 15,000 ($188). POCO is reportedly working on another model called the POCO M5s. Unfortunately, nothing is known about its specifications. However, it is speculated that it will be released in global markets but not in India.
