Earlier this year, POCO announced the POCO M4 5G, Poco M4 Pro 5G, and POCO M4 Pro 4G smartphones. New information reveals that the company is working on the POCO M5 series of smartphones, such as the POCO M5 and the POCO M5s.
According to a report by Xiaomiui, there are two upcoming POCO phones with model numbers 22071219CG and 22071219CI. Both have a shortened model number of L91C. They are codenamed “rock” and “stone,” respectively. One of them supports NFC connectivity, while the other one lacks support for it.
The publication revealed that the 22071219CG appeared on the IMEI database with the POCO M5 name. So, it appears that the global edition of the POCO M5 may come with NFC support. The 22071219CI could be its Indian variant, which may not support NFC connectivity.
In addition, recently, a device with 2207117BPG was certified by the FCC authority. The FCC documents reveal that it will be a rebranded version of the older Redmi Note 10S. The IMEI database entry for the 2207117BPG showed that it might be called the POCO M5s when it first comes out.
The POCO M5s’ FCC certification revealed that it will run on the MIUI 13. The FCC listing also mentioned that it will be available in three configurations: 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. The rest of the specifications of the POCO M5s could be identical to those of the Redmi Note 10S.
Hence, the POCO M5s is expected to arrive with a 6.43-inch AMOLED FHD+ display, an Helio G95 chip, and a 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging. It will feature a 13-megapixel front camera and 64-megapixel quad rear cameras. The POCO M5 and M5s may debut in August.
