Following the launch of the Rakuten BIG smartphone in the Japanese market last year, the company is now back with another mid-ranger offering known as the Rakuten BIG S in its home market.
This device builds around a 6.4” AMOLED display which offers a FHD+ screen resolution as well as an in-display fingerprint scanner. Unlike last year’s Rakuten BIG smartphone that comes with an under display selfie camera, the Rakuten BIG S gets a 16 megapixels selfie camera housed within a dewdrop-notch instead.
Over on the flip side, the Rakuten BIG S sports a rectangular camera island that houses a quad-camera setup. These cameras include a 48 megapixels main camera, 8 megapixels ultra-wide camera, 8 megapixels telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, as well as a 2 megapixels depth sensor.
Under the hood, the Rakuten BIG S is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 765G mobile platform alongside 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. To keep its light on, the device draws power from a respectable 3,900mAh battery.
On the software-side, the Rakuten BIG S is shipped with Android 10 OS out of the box. The device also carries support for NFC connectivity and has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance.
For those who’re interested, the Rakuten BIG S is available in three different colorways including Black, White and Crimson Red. In the Japanese market, the device is priced at 50,980 Yen (US$472) for its 6GB+128GB model.
