As scheduled, Realme has officially announced a pair of brand new Realme 8 series smartphones – Realme 8s 5G and Realme 8i – during a high profile launch event held in the Indian market. Without further ado, let’s check out what these new devices have in store for us!
Realme 8s 5G

Around the back of the phone, there’s a squarish camera island which is home to a triple-camera system lead by a 64 megapixels main camera alongside a 2 megapixels macro camera and 2 megapixels B/W portrait lens.
Under the hood, the Realme 8s 5G is the first smartphone in the world that’s powered by the new MediaTek Dimensity 810 chipset with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage that can be further expanded via a microSD card. Just like most of the recent Realme smartphones, the phone also features an additional 5GB virtual RAM thanks to Dynamic RAM Expansion.
To keep it’s lights on, the Realme 8s 5G is fitted with a respectable 5,000mAh battery with 33W Dart Charging support. On the software side of things, the phone is shipped with Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11 out of the box.
For those who’re interested, the Realme 8s 5G is available in both Universe Blue and Universe Purple, and is priced at INR17,999 (US$245) and INR19,999 (US$270) respectively for it’s 6GB+128GB and 8GB+128GB variants.
Realme 8i
Coming to the more affordable Realme 8i, it settles with a slightly larger 6.6” LCD display which boasts a FHD+ screen resolution, smooth 120Hz refresh rate, as well as a 16 megapixels front-facing camera for selfie and video-calling purposes.
On the rear side, it comes with a similar-looking camera module that houses a total of three cameras including a 50 megapixels main camera, 2 megapixels macro camera, as well as a 2 megapixels B/W portrait lens.
At the helm, the Realme 8i is also the first in the world to debut with the new MediaTek Helio G96 chipset which will be assisted by up to 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage that can be further expanded via a microSD card.
Moving on, the phone draws power from a 5,000mAh battery which carries support for 18W fast-charging. Unsurprisingly, it’s also shipped with Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11 out of the box.
Those who’re planning to get the device can pick between two color options including Space Black and Space Purple. In terms of pricing, the phone will set you back by INR13,999 (US$190) and INR15,999 (US$218) respectively for it’s 4GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB variants.
