During the launch event of the Realme X50 yesterday, Realme had also shed some light on the company’s performance in 2019.
According to Realme’s CEO Sky Li, the company had recorded more than 24 million global smartphone shipments in 2019. This equates to an impressive year-on-year growth of 500% as compared to 2018 – the year when Realme made their official debut.
Their top-line growth in 2019 also made Realme the fastest growing smartphone maker in the world. To build upon their success, Realme aims to double their global smartphone shipments to 50 million in 2020.
Some of the company’s best-selling smartphones in 2019 came from their affordable Realme 5 series which includes the Realme 5, Realme 5s, as well as Realme 5 Pro. In 2019 alone, the company had shipped more than 5.5 million smartphones from the Realme 5 series.
Although the Realme started out by offering budget entry-level smartphones, but the company is slowly venturing into the upper mid-ranger smartphone segment. This could be seen from their recent unveiling of the Realme XT and Realme X2 Pro smartphones.
Similarly, we can also expect Realme to diversify their portfolio with more 5G smartphones to keep up with the growing 5G adoption rate in China.
