Realme GT 5’s latest teaser drop clue about Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

Realme recently confirmed that it will launch the Realme GT 5 in August in China. However, it hasn’t confirmed its launch date yet. This suggests that the phone may launch by the end of August in China. Ahead of the expected launch, Xu Qi, President of Realme China, shared a teaser on Weibo today regarding the upcoming flagship phone.

The teaser raises a pertinent question: “Despite the introduction of over 30 second-generation Snapdragon 8 flagship models from different brands, why haven’t any of them truly reached the pinnacle of performance?” This strongly suggests that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, Qualcomm’s most recent and advanced mobile chipset, will power the Realme GT 5.

According to a new Weibo post from the reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, the GT 5 model is expected to feature an impressive 24GB RAM configuration along with a rapid 240W charging capability. The smartphone will also sport an OLED display with a 1.5K resolution, offering high-frequency dimming support. Previous reports have revealed that it will have a 6.74-inch OLED screen, which also supports a 144Hz refresh rate.

The device will be equipped with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. It is expected to arrive in two battery variants, such as 4,600mAh and 5,200mAh. These models are expected to support 240W and 150W fast charging. On the photography front, the GT 5 will have a 16-megapixel selfie camera and a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 primary camera on the back. The main snapper will be joined by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera.
