Realme GT 8 Pro design confirmed with interchangeable camera module

Realme is gearing up to unveil the GT 8 series in China on Oct. 21. Ahead of the launch, company executives have revealed key details about the design and build of the Realme GT 8 Pro. The smartphone will bring an entirely new approach to smartphone aesthetics and customization through its modular camera design.

The Realme GT 8 Pro will introduce a detachable and swappable camera housing, marking the first mechanical modular system in a mainstream smartphone. The module, held by two Torx screws and magnetic connectors, can be replaced with different shapes and materials, allowing users to switch between square, round, and “robot” styles.

Realme has confirmed that the GT 8 Pro will be available in White, Blue, and Green color options, with the latter two featuring a thin, recycled paper-like leather back that is both wear and corrosion resistant.

The GT 8 Pro features a 2K 144Hz OLED display with 7,000-nit peak brightness and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor paired with 16GB RAM and a 7,000mAh battery supporting 120W wired and 50W wireless charging.

For photography, the device houses a 50-megapixel Ricoh GR-certified main sensor, an ultra-wide camera, and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens. The GT 8 Pro, along with the Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered GT 8, will both run on Realme UI 7 based on Android 16.

The Realme GT 8 Pro is expected to face competition from the likes of the OnePlus 16, iQOO 15, and Redmi K90 Pro Max in China. Realme is also said to be gearing up for the GT 8 Pro’s global launch. Likely, the device may debut on Nov. 11 in India.
