Redmi and Realme are both competing with each other to launch their first phones with 64-megapixel camera. Realme has recently confirmed that it will be holding a launch event in India to announce a smartphone with 64-megapixel quad camera setup. Today, the Chinese firm has released invitation to Chinese media to confirm that it will be holding an unveil event on Aug. 15 in China to unleash its 64-megapixel camera phone to the home market.
The Realme 64-megapixel camera phone will be announced at 2PM CST on Aug. 15. The phone will be featuring Samsung’s GW1 sensor that can capture an image with a maximum resolution of 9216 x 6912 pixels. In low-light conditions, the Samsung’s Tetracell technology springs into action to capture 16-megapixel shots. Redmi has also confirmed that it will be launching a Redmi phone with 64-megapixel camera. However, it will be unveiled earlier on Aug. 7 in China. Redmi’s phone will be also equipped with the aforementioned GW1 Samsung sensor.
As of this writing, there is no information available on the name of the Realme device that will be featuring the quad camera setup with 64-megapixel primary sensor. Some reports have claimed that it could be the Realme 5 Pro smartphone. Rumors have it that the successor of the Realme 3 Pro won’t be carrying Realme 4 Pro moniker since the number 4 is considered as a bad omen in the country.
