Nubia was one of the first brands in China to confirm that the Red Magic 5G will be arriving with Snapdragon 865 SoC. The handset was made official in April. Today, Nubia President confirmed the arrival of a new Red Magic gaming phone. It could be powered by the latest Snapdragon 865 Plus SoC.
Fei’s Weibo post states that the smartphone will be launching as Red Magic 5S. The ‘beyond Plus’ text in his Weibo post suggests that it will be arriving with SD865+.
Last year, the brand had launched the Red Magic 3 with Snapdragon 855 in the first half of the year. After Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 855+ SoC, the company introduced the Red Magic 3s in the second half of the year.
It appears that the company will be applying the same product strategy this year as Qualcomm recently launched the Snapdragon 865 Plus platform. The SD865+ offers enhanced CPU and GPU performance and it can reach maximum speeds of 3.09GHz.
The CPU was the only difference between the Red Magic 3 and Red Magic 3s. Hence, apart from using the SD865+ SoC, the Red Magic 5S is expected to borrow other specs from the Red Magic 5G phone. Now that the company has started teasing the arrival of the Red Magic 5S, it may go official as early as next month.
