In the previous week, Xiaomi President Lin Bind confirmed that the company will be launching a new Xiaomi phone with 48-megapixel camera in January 2019. Recent leaks have revealed that it won’t be a Mi series phone, but the first ever flagship phone from the Redmi lineup. New information that has surfaced today reveals that the phone will be feature a hole in the display for the front camera.
The Samsung Galaxy A8s with Infinity-O display design is the first phone to feature a hole at the top-left corner of the display for the front-facing camera. This design certainly allows it to offer a very high screen space. Hence, the upcoming Redmi flagship phone is expected to deliver an impressive screen space if it comes with an in-display camera hole.
However, there is no confirmation on whether the display hole will be placed at the top-left corner or towards the center in the notifications bar area. The smartphone is rumored to feature a thicker chin. The LCD screen of the phone will be reportedly supplied by BOE.
As of this writing, there is no information available on the name of the device. It is likely to feature Snapdragon 675 chipset since it is enabled with support for 48-megapixel camera sensor. Also, it is tipped to feature ISOCELL GM1 48-megapixel sensor by Samsun which is cheaper than Sony IMX586 sensor. It is likely to be priced more than 2,000 Yuan.
