Xiaomi’s sub-brand, Redmi, is gearing up to launch another entry-level smartphone in the A series, the Redmi A3x. While the official announcement from Redmi is yet to come, public SpillSomeBeans has managed to obtain exclusive marketing materials revealing the full details of the device.
Redmi A3x key specifications (rumored)
The Redmi A3x will differentiate itself from the existing Redmi A3, primarily in two areas. Firstly, the chipset will see an upgrade. While the A3 featured MediaTek’s Helio G36, the A3x will sport the Unisoc T603 chipset.
Although both SoCs reportedly perform similarly on the AnTuTu benchmark, the T603 boasts a superior architecture with two Cortex A75 cores and six Cortex A55 cores compared to the eight Cortex-A53 cores on the G36.
In terms of memory, the Redmi A3x will debut with 3 GB of RAM, with an option for virtual expansion by an additional 4GB. On the software side, it will come pre-installed with Android 14, promising two years of Android updates and three years of security patches.
The second significant change lies in the design aspect. While the Redmi A3 featured a vegan leather finish in Forest Green, the A3x will introduce a glass back in the new Aurora Green variant. Additionally, the Moonlight White option will replace the Star Blue, while the Midnight Black shade remains consistent across both phones. However, it’s worth noting that all color options for the A3x will feature a glass back with plastic frames, with the phone measuring 8.3mm in thickness.
Aside from these changes, the remaining specifications of the Redmi A3x will remain similar to the A3. This includes a 6.71-inch HD+ LCD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, DC Dimming support, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The rear camera setup will consist of a circular module housing a 50MP main lens and an auxiliary sensor. The selfie camera will be a 5MP sensor. Powering the device will be a 5000mAh battery, and it will feature a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.
