Redmi A3x spotted, launching soon in multiple markets

Xiaomi launched the Redmi A3 in India on February 14. Now, it is reported that the company is working on a new phone with similar specs called the Redmi A3x. The phone will first come to India, just like the regular A3.

Redmi A3x was first spotted by folks at GizmoChina with model numbers 24048RN6CG and 24048RN6CI. The first two numbers in the model number reveal the year of launch, while the two numbers following them reveal the month.

Thus, from the model numbers, we can decode that Xiaomi will unveil the Redmi A3x in April 2024 or later this month.

The letter at the end of the model number reveals the market where that particular model will be available. The ‘G’ suffix means the phone will launch globally. Likewise, the model with the ‘I’ is for the Indian market.

Staying true to the A series, the Redmi A3x will be another entry-level phone in the lineup. It will focus on the core features of a smartphone, like calls, texts, and normal web browsing.

That said, it is unclear how this phone will differ from the regular A3. The previous two generations of the Redmi A phone also had two models. However, the only difference between the regular and Plus models is the presence of a fingerprint scanner on the latter.

Redmi A3 specifications

To recall, the Redmi A3 features a 6.71-inch HD+ 90Hz display, a Helio G36 chipset, up to 6 GB of RAM, up to 128 GB of storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging. It has a 5-megapixel front camera and an 8-megapixel dual-camera system on the back. It features a side-facing fingerprint scanner and runs on Android 13 with a layer of MUI 14 on top.  The A3 is available in glossy and vegan leather finishes.

A rebranded version of the phone is also available as the Poco C61 in India. However, there is no information if the Redmi A3x will have a Poco counterpart.
