Redmi was expected to announce the Redmi 8 series in China. Instead, it has confirmed that the Redmi 8 series will be made official on Oct. 14 at 3 PM (local time). The renders of the Redmi 8 reveal that it will be available in a new color of Emerald Green apart from Sapphire Blue and Onyx Black.
Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A Specifications
The Redmi 8 has a 6.22-inch IPS LCD panel with HD+ resolution and waterdrop notch. It has a front camera of 8-megapixel. The rear side of the smartphone features a Sony IMX363 12-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual camera system.
The Snapdragon 439 chipset powers the phone with up to 4 GB of RAM. It is expected to come with up to 64 GB of storage along with a dedicated microSD card slot. The handset draws power from a 5,000mAh battery that support 18W fast charging. It has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The Redmi 8A has identical specs and design as the Redmi 8. The only major differences of the Redmi 8A is that it lacks a fingerpint reader and it does not feature a second camera on its rear.
The Redmi 8 was introduced in India recently in three colors such as Sapphire Blue, Ruby Red and Onyx Black. The specs sheet of the phone mentioned on Xiaomi India website reveals Emerald Green color variant. However, the above shown poster and renders of the Redmi 8 shows that China may not receive the Ruby Red color at launch, but it will be provided with Emerald Green color variant instead.
