On May 8, Google had rolled out the Android Q Beta 3 for 21 devices from non-Google branded phones. It included two Xiaomi devices such as Xiaomi Mi 9 and Mi MIX 3 5G smartphone. The Android Q beta program webpage on Mi.com now lists Redmi K20 Pro handset too alongside the Mi 9 and Mi MIX 3 5G phones.
The addition of the Redmi K20 Pro in the Android Q upgrade list gives it a flagship identity like the other Xiaomi phones. Since the Redmi K20 Pro has been only introduced in China, the Android Q beta program is only available for its users in the home market. Since it is not a final version, some of its features could be in development. Some of the known issues of the Android Q beta build for K20 Pro include no support for fingerprint sensor, unable to switch between multiple users, Bluetooth search not able to work with certain keyboards and more.
Recent reports have revealed that Redmi K20 Pro will be branded as Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro in markets outside of China. Some of the markets that are going to receive the Mi 9T Pro handset include Russia, Poland, Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan.
