Redmi K30 Lauched with 120Hz Display, Snapdragon 765G, Dual Front Cameras and Sony IMX686 Quad Cameras

Redmi held a launch event in China to announce the Redmi K30 smartphone. The handset has been introduced in 4G and 5G editions. With an enticing starting price of 1,999 Yuan ($285), the Redmi K30 5G impresses with features like 120Hz refresh rate display, Snapdragon 765G processor, dual front-facing cameras and Sony IMX686 quad rear cameras. Redmi also announced the 4G only version of the Redmi K30 that costs 1,599 Yuan ($228) for its base model.

The Redmi K30 that features Gorilla Glass 5 panels on front and rear sides has a 6.67-inch IPS LCD display with a 4.38mm wide elliptical cutout at the top-right corner to house the 20-megapixel + 2-megapixel AI powered dual front-facing cameras. The Redmi K30 is the first Redmi phone to come with 120Hz refresh rate display. It produces full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20:9.

The newly introduced 7nm Snapdragon 765G that comes with an integrated 5G modem fuels the Redmi K30’s 5G variant. The Redmi K30 4G model is driven by Snapdragon 730G from last year. Both phones are backed by 4,500mAh batteries. The 5G edition supports 30W rapid charging and the 4G model has support for 27W fast charging. The Redmi K30 is preinstalled with MIUI 11 based Android 10 OS.

The Redmi K30 5G has a vertical quad camera system on its back that is housed inside a glossy ring. The K30 is the world’s first phone to feature the Sony IMX686 64-megapixel lens which is available as the main lens. It is coupled with a 120-degree ultrawide 8-megapixel lens, a super macro lens of 5-megapixel with 2cm focal length and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The Redmi K30 4G edition has the same rear-mounted cameras. However, it features a 2-megapixel macro lens instead of 5-megapixel sensor.

The Redmi K30 comes with connectivity features like dual-SIM support, 4G / 5G connectivity Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band GPS, IR blaster, NFC, USB-C and 3.5mm headphone jack. Some of its other features include side-facing fingerprint scanner, Hi-Res Audio and 1217 super line speaker with Smart PA loudspeaker.

Redmi K30 Pricing and Release Date

The Redmi K30 4G edition is priced at 1,599 Yuan ($228) for 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, 1,699 Yuan ($240) for 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, 1,899 Yuan ($270) for 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 2,199 Yuan ($312) for 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage variants.

On the other side, the Redmi K30 5G costs 1,999 Yuan ($285) for 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, 2,299 Yuan ($325) for 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, 2,599 Yuan ($370) for 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 2,899 Yuan ($412) for 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage variants.

The Redmi K30 4G is now up for pre-orders in China and its sale will be held on Dec. 12. The 5G edition will be made available for buying in the next month.
