Redmi K50 Series Launch Date Revealed, K50 Gaming Edition’s Design Teased

Last month, Redmi confirmed that it will be announcing the Redmi K50 series of smartphones in February. Since then, the company has been gradually teasing the arrival of the K50 lineup. Today, the company released an official confirmation on the launch date of the K50 series.

As can be seen in the poster below, Redmi will be holding a launch event at 7 PM on Feb. 16 to announce the Redmi K50 series. The poster also gives a first look at what appears to be the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition. It will be replacing the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition from last year.  The K40 Gaming Edition was rebranded as the POCO F3 GT in global markets. Hence, it is likely that the upcoming K50 Gaming Edition may get rebadged as the POCO F4 GT in markets outside China.

Reports have revealed that the Redmi K50 series has four devices such as Redmi K50 (model number 22021211RC) with Dimensity 8000, Redmi K50 Pro (22041211AC) with Snapdragon 870, Redmi K50 Pro+ (22011211C) with Dimensity 9000, and Redmi K50 Gaming (21121210C) with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It is unclear whether all four devices will be announced at the same time on Feb. 16. A recent report claimed that the RedmI K50 Pro+ will be announced a bit later.

Recent reports have spilt key details of the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition. It is speculated to arrive with a 6.67-inch OLED screen that offers 2K resolution with a high refresh rate. It may feature a 16-megapixel front camera, and a rear-facing triple camera unit featuring a 64-megapixel main camera, a 13-megapixel secondary lens, and a 2-megapixel macro/depth sensor. The above-shown poster suggests that it features mechanical gaming trigger shoulder buttons.

The K50 Gaming edition is expected to house a 4,700mAh battery that supports 120W fast charging. Its other rumored features include a side-facing fingerprint scanner, JBL dual speakers, and aan AAC 1016 ultrawide-band x-axis motor.
