Redmi Note 15 Pro+ Review: Redefining What S$549 Can Do!

Every now and then, there’s always one mid-range phone that makes me pause and rethink how much a “good” smartphone really needs to cost. The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ feels like exactly that kind of device. From the moment I started using it, it was clear that this isn’t just another incremental upgrade — it’s Xiaomi doubling down on delivering serious value where it matters most. With a strong mix of performance, design, and everyday practicality, the Note 15 Pro+ makes a compelling case for being one of the best value-for-money mid-rangers on the market right now.

That strong value proposition is reflected in its physical design. The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ doesn’t reinvent the wheel visually, but it refines what already worked. It retains the familiar square-shaped camera island, keeping the look recognisable, yet the body is now slightly slimmer at 8.2mm, compared to the 8.8mm profile of the Redmi Note 14 Pro+. In hand, that reduction may sound minor on paper, but it does make the phone feel noticeably sleeker and more comfortable during daily use.

There’s also a good mix of finishes to suit different tastes. It comes in Black, Glacier Blue, and Mocha Brown. The Black and Glacier Blue variants feature a clean matte finish that resists fingerprints well, while the Mocha Brown option stands out with its faux leather back, giving it a more premium, almost flagship-like touch. Personally, I appreciate having that leather-style option in this segment — it adds character without pushing up the price.

Durability is another area where the Note 15 Pro+ punches above its weight. It boasts an ultra-durable build with SGS certification for full-device high-strength protection against drops, bends, and crushing pressure — something you don’t always see emphasised in mid-range devices. Add to that an IP69 rating for water and dust resistance, it feels like a phone built not just to look good, but to survive everyday life with confidence.

Beyond its tough exterior, the front of the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ is another aspect where I found myself genuinely impressed. The large 6.83-inch AMOLED display makes everything feel immersive, especially when watching videos or browsing through photos. The FHD+ resolution never fails to keep visuals sharp and vibrant, and I never felt like I was missing out on clarity in daily use.

More importantly, the 120Hz refresh rate adds that extra layer of smoothness that I’ve come to appreciate — scrolling feels effortless, animations are fluid, and the overall experience just feels more polished. Brightness is another strong point. With up to 3,000 nits peak brightness, the screen remains easily readable even under harsh sunlight, which is something I don’t take for granted.

And knowing that the display is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 adds reassurance, especially when it comes to accidental knocks, minor drops, or the daily wear and tear that inevitably happens.

Redmi Note 15 Pro+: Performance

Needless to say, the real test of any mid-ranger is how it performs once you start pushing it a little — and this is where the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ continues to make a strong case for itself. Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra, the phone feels quick and responsive in everyday use. Whether I’m juggling multiple apps, editing photos, or squeezing in a few gaming sessions, it handles tasks with a confidence that doesn’t feel “mid-range” at all.

Helping maintain that stability is Xiaomi’s IceLoop cooling system, which does a solid job of keeping temperatures under control during longer gaming sessions. I noticed the phone staying relatively cool even after extended use, which definitely adds to the overall comfort.

And with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, there’s plenty of headroom for multitasking and storing just about everything without worrying about space. The same goes for it’s battery which offers a generous 6,500mAh capacity that easily powers through a full day (and often beyond) on a single charge.

When the battery does run low, 100W HyperCharge ensures you’re never stuck waiting around for long. A quick plug-in while you’re getting ready or taking a short break is often enough to give you hours of use, and a full charge takes roughly 40 minutes. It’s the kind of fast charging that genuinely fits into a busy routine rather than interrupting it.

Redmi Note 15 Pro+: Cameras

From performance to photography, the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ ended up being more than just a daily driver for me — it was one of the few devices I brought along on my recent trip to Tokyo. Naturally, that meant putting its cameras to the test, from city streets to scenic backdrops.

The headline feature here is the 200MP main camera with OIS, and it genuinely delivers impressive detail. When I was capturing Mount Fuji from a distance, the level of clarity surprised me — especially when zooming in. While it offers up to 30x digital zoom, what stood out wasn’t just the number, but how usable the results actually were. Images retained solid detail and didn’t fall apart as quickly as you’d expect at higher magnifications (check out the video above to have a first-hand experience of its zooming capability).

In Kamakura, the camera handled scenic temples, coastal views, and narrow streets with pleasing colour balance and contrast. Photos looked vibrant without being overly processed, which made them feel closer to what I was seeing in real life. The 8MP ultra-wide camera came in handy for fitting more of the landscape into the frame — especially when trying to capture sweeping seaside views. While it’s not as detailed as the main sensor, it’s perfectly usable for travel snapshots and social media posts.

Verdict

After spending time with it, the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ genuinely feels like one of those rare mid-range phones that doesn’t force you to compromise where it counts. Its combination of a punchy display, dependable performance, long-lasting battery, and surprisingly capable camera setup made it my go-to device — even on a recent trip to Japan, where it captured everything from city streets to panoramic views with ease.

Priced at just S$549 in Singapore, it strikes a balance that’s hard to beat: a phone that feels polished and purposeful without stretching your budget. If you want a device that delivers solid everyday performance, thoughtful features, and real photographic versatility without the flagship price tag, the Note 15 Pro+ earns its place near the top of the mid-range tier.

For those who’re interested, the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ will be available for purchase on mi.com, official stores on Shopee and Lazada, Xiaomi Stores and partner stores.
