Yesterday, a Xiaomi tipster spotted a new smartphone with model number M1908C3GG in the IMEI database. The IMEI listing further revealed that the name of the device is Redmi Note 8 and further digging suggested that the phone will actially be called “Redmi Note 8 (2021)”. A couple of other evidence suggest that its arrival could be close at hand.
Besides IMEI, the Redmi Note 8 (2021) has also appeared in the database of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the U.S. which revealed that it is powered by a 4,000mAh battery and MIUI 12.5.
According to @xiaomiui, the Redmi Note 8 (2021) is codenamed as Biloba, and its model numbers are M1908C3GG and M1908C3J1. It further claimed that the device will be available in limited markets such as EU and Russia markets.
In terms of specs, the same source also revealed that the Redmi Note 8 (2021) is expected to feature an IPS LCD panel with a waterdrop notch. It carries support for a 120Hz refresh rate, but its screen size is not known yet.
The Helio G85 chipset might fuel the device with 4 GB of RAM. It may arrive in storage choices like 64 GB and 128 GB. The handset may come with 22.5W fast charging for its 4,000mAh battery. For photography, you can expect a 48-megapixel quad-camera system, which may include a wide-angle lens, an ultrawide sensor, a depth sensor, and a tele-macro camera. There is no information on the front camera of the smartphone.
