As scheduled, Xiaomi has officially announced a trio of Redmi Note 9 series devices in the Chinese market this evening. These devices include the Redmi Note 9 4G, Redmi Note 9 5G, as well as Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G.
Its worth noting however, that these devices are different from the current Redmi Note 9 models which had already been launched in the global market. According to earlier reports, the Redmi Note 9 devices launched in China could eventually arrive in the global market under the Redmi Note 10 branding.
Redmi Note 9 4G
Let’s kick off with the Redmi Note 9 4G, the most affordable model among the trio. This device features a 6.53-inches FHD+ LCD display that arrives with a typical dewdrop-notch design for its front panel.
Under the hood, the Redmi Note 9 4G is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 662 chipset which will be paired with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage that can be further expanded via a microSD card.
For photography, the Redmi Note 9 4G comes with a triple camera system at the back consisting of a 48 megapixels primary shooter, 8 megapixels ultra-wide lens, as well as a 2 megapixels depth sensor. This will be rounded out by an 8 megapixels selfie camera at the front.
To keep its lights on, the Redmi Note 9 4G is fitted with a massive 6,000mAh battery with 18W fast-charging support. Aside from that, some other highlights of the device include its 3.5mm headphone jack, side-mounted fingerprint scanner and stereo speakers.
In the Chinese market, the Redmi Note 9 4G is priced at 999 Yuan (US$152), 1,099 Yuan (US$167), 1,299 Yuan (US$198) and 1,499 Yuan (US$227) respectively for its 4GB+128GB, 6GB+128GB, 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB models.
Redmi Note 9 5G
Moving to the Redmi Note 9 5G, this device maintains a similar 6.53-inches LCD FHD+ display as the Redmi Note 9 4G. However, it will be coming with a hole-punch design instead.
At the helm, the Redmi Note 9 5G is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 800U chipset with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage in its memory department.
As for its cameras, the Redmi Note 9 5G has three cameras at the back consisting of a 48 megapixels primary shooters which will be joined by an 8 megapixels ultra-wide lens and a 2 megapixels macro camera. This will be accompanied by a 13 megapixels selfie camera at the front.
Keeping the device running will be a respectable 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast-charging support. Just like the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G, there’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack, side-mounted fingerprint scanner and stereo speakers on the Redmi Note 9 5G.
In terms of pricing, the Redmi Note 9 5G is priced at 1,299 Yuan (US$197), 1,499 Yuan (US$227) and 1,699 Yuan (US$258) respectively for its 6GB+128GB, 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB models.
Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G
Finally, we have the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G – the highest-end model among the trio. This model boasts a slightly larger 6.67-inches FHD+ LCD display which has a smooth 120Hz refresh rate as opposed to the 60Hz refresh rate found on the Redmi Note 9 4G and Note 9 5G.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G is powered by the new Snapdragon 750G chipset which was also found in the recently announced Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite 5G. On top of that, there’s also up to 8GB worth of RAM and 256GB onboard storage as well.
In the camera department, the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G features a quad camera system headlined by a 108 megapixels Samsung ISOCELL HM2 primary shooter that will be assisted by an 8 megapixels ultra-wide lens, 2 megapixels macro camera, as well as a 2 megapixels depth helper. For selfies, it will be handled by a 16 megapixels sensor.
Next, the device is fitted with a 4,820mAh battery that carries support for 33W fast-charging which is capable of delivering a full charge within 58 minutes. Once again, you can find a 3.5mm headphone jack, side-mounted fingerprint scanner and stereo speakers on the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G as well.
