Redmi’s Gaming Phone with Dimensity 1200 May Launch in April, Hints Xiaomi Executive

Xiaomi held a mega launch event on March 29 and March 30 to announce a wide range of phones such as Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold, Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11 Pro, Mi 11i, Mi 11 Lite 4G and 5G, and other gadgets. It appears that the company is planning to launch new devices in April. Today, Redmi Product Director Wang Teng Thomas took to Weibo to hint that a new phone will be launching this month.

As it can be seen in the screenshot below, in response to a Weibo user who said that there will be no phones from Xiaomi in April, Thomas responded by saying, ‘who said this?”. Hence, it appears that the executive could be indirectly hinting at the arrival of a new Redmi phone.

Redmi gaming phone's April launch hinted

Rumors are rife that Redmi may announce the much-anticipated Dimensity 1200 powered gaming phone in April. Yesterday, tipster Digital Chat Station revealed that the forthcoming Redmi gaming phone is codenamed as Ares. Rumors have also claimed that the phone may sport a quad-camera system led by a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 main lens.

Reports have claimed that the model number of the upcoming Redmi gaming phone is M2104K10C. The Indian version of the phone with model number M2104K10I was spotted at the IMEI database of the country with a POCO branding. Hence, it is likely that the Redmi gaming phone could be rebadged as POCO smartphone.

The Dimensity 1200 is said to offer a performance that is similar to the Snapdragon 870. Hence, there is a possibility that the Redmi gaming phone may hit the Indian markets as a POCO F series phone.
