Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Z Flip 5G clamshell phone on Aug. 5 alongside the Galaxy Note 20 series and Galaxy Z Fold 2. However, before making it official in August, the company will be announcing the flip phone in China later this week. The South Korean company took to Weibo to confirm that it will be launching the Galaxy Z Flip 5G on July 22 in China.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5G poster released by the company through its official Weibo channel only confirms the launch date and has no information on its specs. The specifications of the Galaxy Z Flip 5G are already known since it appeared in the database of China’s TENAA authority last month.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5G is a 5G-ready version of the Snapdragon 855+ powered Galaxy Z Flip that went official earlier this year. It is known that the Galaxy Z Flip 5G will feature the latest Snapdragon 865 Plus. In fact, it will be one of the first phones to launch with SD865+ since the Lenovo Legion gaming phone and ASUS ROG Phone 3 powered by the same SoC are also slated to go official on the same date. Apart from the SoC, the only other changes that will be arriving with the Galaxy Z Flip 5G are that it will arrive with frost glass finish and in a new Mystic Bronze color.
