Samsung has been sticking to just two foldable phones per year every year. However, we could see a new trend this year. According to a new report by Galaxy Club, Samsung is working on a new folding to launch alongside the upcoming Fold 6 and Flip 6.
There were rumors of both a cheaper and a high-end Galaxy foldable, but only the latter has been traced so far. It bears the model number SM-F958 and is still in development.
For reference, the current Galaxy Z Fold 5 has the model number SM-F946N. Its successor, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6, will be assigned the SM-F956 model number. Notice that the model numbers of the Galaxy Fold devices always end in ‘6’. Similarly, Samsung uses ‘8’ at the end of its Ultra flagships. For instance, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has the model number SM-S928.
This makes us believe that SM-F956 will indeed be the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra. The ‘N’ at the end of the model number hints at a limited release of the phone. This suffix is reserved for the phones for the South Korean market.
Thus, while Samsung is working on a high-end Galaxy Z Fold 6 variant, it is not sure if it will see a global release. Based on the information at hand, it’s best to assume the phone won’t launch outside of Samsung’s home market in South Korea.
Coming to the specifications, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra will most likely come equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy. Samsung might bundle it with S Pen as it does with the other Galaxy Ultra flagship.
Likewise, Samsung could drastically improve the cameras, as the Galaxy Z series is not known to have flagship-level cameras. We will have more information in the following months as we approach the next Samsung Unpacked event, reportedly in early July. It will set the stage for the launch of multiple Galaxy products, including the next-gen Galaxy Z phones and the anticipated Galaxy Ring.
