Samsung May Soon Release Galaxy A Phones With In-Screen Fingerprint Scanner

Samsung was said to be one of the first companies to be working on under-display fingerprint scanner. However, Chinese manufacturer like Vivo, OPPO and Huawei worked with third party in-display fingerprint scanner and launched numerous smartphones with the said feature. At least two Samsung Galaxy S10 models are expected to carry support for in-display fingerprint scanner. Fresh information coming from South Korea reveals that before the launch of Galaxy S10, Samsung may release two Galaxy A-series mid-range phones with in-display fingerprint scanner.

Samsung is expected to use ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner on Galaxy S10 smartphones. However, the rumored Galaxy A series phones is very likely to receive optical in-display fingerprint scanner solution from Aegis, a company based in China.

Compared to ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, optical variants are less accurate and reliable. However, they are affordable and easy to produce compared to ultrasonic version. Hence, many Chinese smartphone manufacturers have launched phones with in-display fingerprint scanner solution.

Saamsung Galaxy S9

There is no information on the name of the Galaxy A phones that will be arriving with in-display fingerprint scanner. Probably, it could be available on the Galaxy A8s smartphone that is expected to feature display hole for camera and Snapdragon 710 chipset. As far as Galaxy S10 series is concerned, the lowest model dubbed by rumor mill as Galaxy S10 Lite is expected to arrive with a regular rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. This indicates that the rumored Galaxy A series phones may cost higher than the S10 Lite.
