Last year, Samsung had launched the Samsung W2018 clamshell phone with flagship specifications in December 2017. The images of the Samsung W2019 successor phone have already appeared on TENAA, but its specifications are still under the wraps. Today, Samsung has confirmed through its Weibo channel that the W2019 flagship clamshell phone will be made official on Nov. 9.
The above poster has not only confirmed the launch date, but also revealed that its unveil event will be held at Wuxi in Shanghai, China. So far, through TENAA it has been only revealed that the clamshell is equipped with a pair of 4.2-inch S-AMOLED displays. It includes a 3,000mAh battery.
The handset is equipped with a dedicated button for launching Bixby assistant. The phone does not feature a fingerprint scanner. Also, it lacks support for 3.5mm audio jack. Since it is a flip phone, opening it reveals the numeric keypad with directional pad placed about it. Since the W2018 phone was powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC, it is very likely that the upcoming Samsung W2019 will be fueled by Snapdragon 845 mobile platform.
The other specifications of the phone are yet to surface on TENAA. These details may surface ahead of the Nov. 9 launch of the phone. The smartphone is also expected to carry a hefty price tag of around 17,000 Yuan ($2500).
