Today, Nubia has officially announced that it will take off covers from the all-new Red Magic 9S Pro series AI gaming phone on July 3 in China. While there is no confirmation yet, the brand may unveil a new gaming laptop alongside the Red Magic 9S Pro.
In November of last year, Nubia introduced the Red Magic 9 Pro and 9 Pro+ in China. The upcoming Red Magic 9S Pro will be the last 9-series phone from the brand before it switches to the Red Magic 10 lineup, which is expected to launch by the end of the year in China.
Nubia has not yet revealed specific details about the Red Magic 9S Pro, rumors are circulating about its potential features. To recall, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version powered the Red Magic 8S Pro, which went official in July 2023.
Therefore, the Red Magic 9S Pro is anticipated to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version chipset. Hence, it will be the first non-Samsung phone to feature an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.
To provide some context, Qualcomm introduced the 3.36GHz Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip in October. Following this, Samsung released the Galaxy S24 series in January 2023, featuring an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip for Galaxy, operating at 3.9GHz.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version, expected to power the Red Magic 9S Pro, is likely to maintain a clock speed of 3.39GHz. There is a possibility that, like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version, the SD8G3 Leading Version may offer faster GPU performance.
