The Sony Xperia 5 V launch date has been officially announced. It will be announced at 4pm (local time) on Sept. 1 in Japan. The Japanese tech giant has released the following teaser to showcase the camera capabilities of the device:
Earlier this year, the company unveiled the Sony Xperia 1 V flagship phone. Hence, the Xperia 5 V will be the second flagship phone from the brand this year. It is believed that the Sony device with the XQ-DQ72 model number that appeared in Geekbench’s database could be the upcoming Xperia 5 V.
The alleged Geekbench listing of the device revealed that it will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, 16 GB of RAM, and Android 13. In April, China’s 3C certification platform approved the same device. It revealed that the device may arrive with 33W fast charging.
A promo video for the Xperia 5 V that emerged in July revealed the design of the phone. The front side of the phone will feature thick bezels on the top and bottom. Like older smartphones, the top bezel of the Xperia 5 V will house a selfie camera.
The leaked video also revealed that the back panel of the Xperia 5 V features a dual-camera system. The exact camera configuration of the device is not known yet. However, it appears that it could be equipped with a main wide-angle camera and an ultra-wide snapper. It also revealed that the phone will arrive in three shades, such as black, white, and blue. The other details of the device are yet to be revealed.
