Today, MediaTek unveiled the Dimensity 9400 chipset through a launch event in China. The Vivo X200 series launching on Oct. 14 and the Oppo Find X8 lineup debuting on Oct. 24 will be the first phones to feature the Dimensity 9400 chipset. Qualcomm plans to announce the Snapdragon 8 Elite (previously known as Snapdragon 8 Gen 4) at the 2024 Snapdragon Summit on October 22. Tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed that the first Snapdragon 8 Elite phones will debut by the end of this month in China.
According to the tipster, the first batch of Snapdragon 8 Elite phones is scheduled to launch in the last week of October, with sales starting immediately after the launch. The above image reveals that the leaker has indicated the dates Oct. 28, Oct. 29, and Oct. 30, implying the debut of the Xiaomi 15 series on October 28.
As per reports, the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro may debut as the world’s first Snapdragon 8 Elite phones. The tipster has previously claimed that the OnePlus 13, the Honor Magic 7 series, and the iQOO 13 are all poised to launch by the end of this month.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite introduces Qualcomm’s self-developed Oryon core, indicating a higher level of autonomy in CPU design for Qualcomm. The chip features a 2+6 architecture with two ultra-large cores clocked at over 4GHz. It scores around 3000 in Geekbench 6 single-core tests and surpasses 10000 in multi-core tests, significantly outperforming Apple’s A18 Pro in multi-core performance.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite is also expected to power the Realme GT 7 Pro and Redmi K80 Pro, which are expected to launch in November in China. Phones such as the Nubia Z70 Ultra and Red Magic 10 series, and the OnePlus Ace 5 Pro equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite are also expected to debut before the end of this year in China.
