A recent Weibo post by Digital Chat Station claimed to suggest that its launch could be pushed to the second half of the year due to the COVID-19 lockdowns in China. His latest Weibo post reveals that the SD8G1+ chip will debut in the next week.
According to the tipster, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chipset will be launched around May 20. He added that the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 will also launch alongside it. Several companies are expected to confirm the arrival of new smartphones powered by SD8G1+ / SD7G1 after Qualcomm officially unveils them.
It is widely reported that Motorola will be the first brand to launch the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chipset. The new chip will be on the rumored Motorola Edge 30 Ultra smartphone. The handset will debut first in China before it hits the global markets. While it will be an Edge series phone, it will carry a different name in China.
Several upcoming phones are expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chipset. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4 that are expected to debut in Q3 are also expected to feature the SD8G1+. The Xiaomi 12T Pro and Redmi K50S are some of the other phones that feature the upcoming Snapdragon 8-series chipset.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is likely to be seen first on the OPPO Reno8 handset. Hence, it appears that Reno8 series may debut after May 20 in the homeland.
