Last year in November, Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 during the Tech Summit event. Recent reports suggest that the company is currently developing an overclocked variant of the chipset, rumored to be named Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2. A couple of upcoming flagships, which are expected to launch in July and August, are said to be powered by the new chip. Reliable tipster WHY LAB has now tipped the launch timeframe of the SD8+G2.
According to the Chinese tipster, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 chipset will debut in the next week, which indicates it will debut just before the end of the month. This indicates that the first phones featuring the SD8+G2 will debut as early as July in China.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 works at 3.2GHz. Reports have revealed that the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2 chip will offer maximum processing speeds of up to 3.36GHz. Qualcomm is also said to be working on its next flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. In all likelihood, it will be announced in October this year, and the first flagship phones featuring it will reportedly break cover in November.
Coming back to the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2, a new report revealed that the Red Magic 8S Pro will be the first phone to come equipped with it. The iQOO 11S is also expected to feature the SD8+G2 chip. Both smartphones are likely to launch in July.
The OnePlus Ace 2 Pro is also said to feature the new chip. It is likely to break cover in July or August in the home market.
