Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to launch in October

Last year, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 flagship chipset in November. Hence, rumors have been claiming that its successor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, will debut around the same time this year. Qualcomm has now confirmed that the 2023 Snapdragon Summit will be held in October of this year.

The Snapdragon Summit of 2023 has been scheduled to take place in Maui, Hawaii, US, from October 24 to October 26. Although the specific details have not been officially disclosed, the highlight of the event is expected to be the introduction of the highly anticipated Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

As seen in the screengrab, DCS believes that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip will launch at the end of October, and the first phones featuring it will debut in November. He further said that the first batch of phones that are expected to feature the SD8G3 chip include the Xiaomi 14 series, the Vivo X100 series, the iQOO 12 series, the Redmi K70 series, the OnePlus 12, and the Realme GT 5.

Reports have claimed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip will have a 1+5+2 configuration. It is said to comprise one Cortex-X4 prime core working at 3.2GHz, five Cortex-A720 cores operating at 3.00GHz, and two Cortex-A520 cores clocking at 2.00GHz. It is likely to include the Adreno 750 GPU. It is expected to have support for LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.1 storage.

The Galaxy S24 series, arriving in the first quarter of 2024, will also feature the same chip. However, there is a possibility that, like the S23 lineup, the Galaxy S24 could be equipped with a customized version of the chip, which could be called the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy.
