Just yesterday, we’d gotten our first look on the official render of the upcoming Sony Xperia 5 II. Since then, things seem to have developed pretty quickly with Sony announcing that the company will be holding an official launch event on September 17th, where they will unveil a new Xperia smartphone.
Although the actual identity of the device was not revealed, but its quite obvious that the star of the event will be none other than the Xperia 5 II. This will be the second high profile launch for Sony, after launching the Xperia 1 II and Xperia 10 II back in February this year.
Based on what we’d know so far, the upcoming Sony Xperia 5 II will share a close resemblance to the current Xperia 1 II. At the front, the device will feature the usual thick bezels towards the top of bottom of the front display.
At the back, the device continues to flaunt a pill-shape triple-cameras system jointly developed with ZEISS optics. However, a notable difference between the Xperia 5 II and the current Xperia 1 II is the absence of a 3D ToF sensor on the former.
Aside from that, it had also been confirmed that the Xperia 5 II is coming with a 3.5mm headphone jack, and is likely to feature a dedicated camera shutter key along the right frame of the device.
Performance-wise, we can expect the Xperia 5 II to be equipped with the flagship Snapdragon 865/ 865+ SoC coupled with the latest LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 flash storage technology.
