Sony has announced a new smartphone called Xperia 8 in Japan. The specifications of the smartphone suggest that it is Japan’s customized version of the Sony Xperia 10 mid-range phone that was made official at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 in February.

The Sony Xperia 8 measures 158 x 69 x 8.1mm and weighs 170 grams. The handset has a 6.0-inch IPS LCD Triluminous display that offers full HD+ resolution and a tall aspect ratio of 21:9. The display has a thick-sized forehead, while rest of the bezels are reduced. The front and rear sides of the phone are shielded by Gorilla Glass 6. The smartphone is equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint reader. It runs on Xperia UI based Android 9 Pie OS. There is a side sense bar that gives access to the frequently used apps and settings on the device.
The rear side of the smartphone has 12-megapixel + 8-megapixel horizontal dual camera setup with 2x optical zoom and 4K video recording support. Placed on the front is an 8-megapixel selfie shooter.
The Snapdragon 630 mobile platform along with 4 GB of RAM fuels the smartphone. It has a native storage of 64 GB. There is a microSD card slot for additional storage on the device. The 2,760mAh battery of the phone can be charged through USB-C.
Black, White, Orange and Blue are the four the color variants of the smartphone. It comes with an IPX5/X8 rate dustproof and waterproof body. The pricing of the smartphone is 54,000 Yen ($505). The handset will be available through Y! Mobile in Japan in late October.
