Shortly after making it’s appearance on Geekbench, the much anitcipated Sony Xperia Ace 2 has now been officially announced in the Japanese market, and is expected to go on sale starting May 28th.
The Xperia Ace 2 is among the few compact smartphones in the market, offering a petite screen size which measures 5.5” diagonally with HD+ screen resolution. The overall footprint of the phone stood at 140 x 69 x 8.9mm and weighs around 159 grams.
Interestingly, the phone also has IP68 rating for dust and waterproofing, and is also fitted with a layer of Gorilla Glass 6 upfront to improve the device’s durability.
In the camera department, the Sony Xperia Ace 2 features a dual-camera setup at the back, lead by a 13 megapixels main camera and a 2 megapixels depth sensor. This will be rounded out by an 8 megapixels front-facing camera for selfie and video-calling purposes.
Under the hood, the Xperia Ace 2 is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 chipset which is popular among Realme and OPPO’s budget phones. It will be accompanied with 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage that can be further expanded via a microSD card.
To keep it’s light on, the phone draws power from a respectable 4,500mAh battery which promises long hours of usage on the go. Other than that, it also features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
For those who’re interested, the Xperia Ace 2 is available in three different colorways including White, Black and Blue. It’s priced at 22,000 Yen (US$202) in the Japanese market.
