After launching the Sony Xperia 1 II and Xperia 10 II back in February this year, Sony will soon be back into action with the brand new Xperia 5 II. Although we’d already heard about the existence of this Xperia 5 II for quite some time, but its only until today when we’re finally able to have our first official look at the device courtesy of well-accredited leaker Evan Blass.
At first glance, its undeniable that the Sony Xperia 5 II shares a close resemblance to the current Xperia 1 II. The device will continue to maintain a thick bezel towards the top of bottom of the front display just like what we’d seen among any other Xperia smartphones.
Over on its rear, the Xperia 5 II also has a pill-shaped camera housing which boasts a triple-cameras setup. Although the device is expected to feature the same triple-cameras setup as the current Xperia 1 II, but the 3D ToF sensor is notably omitted on the Xperia 5 II. Once again, its rear camera system had been confirmed to be jointly developed with ZEISS optics.
Other than that, the same render also revealed that the Xperia 5 II will be coming with a 3.5mm headphone jack, and could feature a dedicated camera shutter key as seen along the right frame of the device.
Coming to its internals, we can expect the Xperia 5 II to arrive with flagship specs which will include the Snapdragon 865/ 865+ SoC coupled with the latest LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 flash storage technology.
According to reports, the Sony Xperia 5 II could be announced as early as the upcoming IFA event next week, since the current Xperia 5 was launched during the last year’s IFA event.
