Reports out of the Chinese market were adamant that Xiaomi will be launching the much anticipated Xiaomi 12 series smartphones on December 28th in it’s domestic market. With slightly more than a week away from it’s alleged launch date, it’s not surprising that we’re beginning to hear more about these highly-anticipated devices.
Today, courtesy of famed leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer (in his partnership with Zouton), we’re finally able to have our first look at the upcoming Xiaomi 12 via a series of high quality CAD-based renderings that revealed the front and rear design of the phone in full glory.
Starting with the front, the renders seem to hint that the Xiaomi 12 will be adopting a dual-curved display just like the Xiaomi Mi 11 (Review). What’s different however, is that it’s hole-punch camera had been shifted from the upper-left corner to a centered location instead.
While it might not be obvious in the renders, but the upcoming Xiaomi 12 was previously reported to feature a more compact 6.2” display instead of the massive 6.81” display that we saw on it’s predecessor. Those who’re in favor of a bigger display can still opt for the ”Pro” or ”Ultra” models even though they will be priced higher than the device.
At the back, the Xiaomi 12 appears to sport a neat-looking, rectangular camera bump housing a total of three cameras along with a LED flash. Although there isn’t much information pertaining to the actual specs of the cameras, but earlier leaks had suggested the presence of a 50 megapixels main camera.
As for the rest of the specs, we do know that the Xiaomi 12 is expected to be among the first in the world to be powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. Other than that, the phone could also packs a 4,500mAh battery with 67W fast-charging support.
