If you’ve ever unrooted an Android device before, then you should realize the entire process is much more simpler than rooting the device itself. Earlier on, I’ve taught you how to root the Motorola Droid RAZR HD. So for the benefit of those who may need to unroot the device for various purposes like installing software updates, I’ve also came out with this step by step tutorial on how to unroot the Motorola Droid RAZR HD in less than 45 minutes. However before we begin, I would like to warn you that during the process of unrooting, there is a risk of bricking your own device. So if you still want to proceed, you’ll be doing it at your own risk and we will hold no responsible for any form of damage on your device. It’s also a good practice for you to backup your device before embarking on any of these procedures.
*This procedure works only if you’ve rooted the Droid RAZR HD using this procedure. Similarly, it works only on PCs running on Windows OS.
- Make sure you’ve installed a root file manager on the Droid RAZR HD, i.e. Root Explorer. Please note that a root explorer is different from other typical file explorer like ASTRO File Manager.
- Open the Root Explorer > Mount R/W > Mount System as read-write.
- Delete the following files : /system/app/Superuser.apk , system/bin/su , and /system/xbin/su. This will remove all the root applications on your device.
- Congratulation you’ve successfully unrooted your Motorola Droid RAZR HD XT 925 / XT 926!
Simple isn’t it? Yeah, but even though it is simple, but do be very cautious during the process to ensure your device doesn’t brick by your mistake! Full credits of this procedure goes to these guys from xda-developers ! If you need any help or experience any problem ( device hang, don’t boot? ) during the process, you can comment below this post.
In the mean time, stay tune for more how to unroot tutorials coming your way!

Hello,
I’m from Mexico and I have my Droid RAZR HD ICS rooted and it is not possible to upgrade to Jelly Bean. My question: Is the root an obstacle to succesfully upgrade the device? I have downloaded the upgrade file many times but when installed an error message appears. In that case, I’d need to unroot the device and re-install all applications I have removed, right ?
Hope somebody can help.
Regards.
