Verizon Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge receives minor update fixes

Just a few hours ago, Verizon has begun rolling out a new software updates for both its Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge devices which will bring along some minor bug fixes for the device.

This update will eliminate a software bug which resulted in unintentional Factory Data Reset after multiple failed attempts to use a fingerprint to unlock the devices. After the update, the device will only initiate the Factory Data Reset after 15 failed unlock attempts as follow:

  • You’ll get 10 tries to unlock your device using your fingerprint.
  • If that doesn’t work, you’ll get 5 additional attempts to use your back-up PIN or password.

This update will come with a software version of MMB29K.G920VVRU4CPF2 for the Galaxy S6, as well as MMB29K.G925VVRU4CPF2 for the Galaxy S6 Edge. If you have yet to receive the software update notification, do head down to Settings > About device > Software updates to manually check for the update.
