Some Chinese brands are expected to release new smartphones in May to make them available for purchase through the upcoming 618 (June 18) online shopping festival in China. Vivo will be one of the companies expected to unveil the Vivo S17e, Vivo S17, and Vivo S17 Pro in China. Reliable Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station has shared the key specifications of the S17 and S17 Pro to reveal what to expect from both smartphones.
The Vivo S16, which debuted last year, came equipped with the Snapdragon 870 chipset. However, as per DCS’ leak, it appears that the company has decided to use a 7-series Snapdragon chip to power the S17. He revealed that the device will be powered by the Snapdragon SM7325. This part number is associated with both the Snapdragon 778G and Snapdragon 782G chipsets.
The Vivo S17 Pro will be equipped with the Dimensity 8200 chipset, according to the tipster. The Pro version in the previous lineup was also powered by the same SoC.
The Vivo S17 and S17 Pro will have a couple of common features. The leak states that both smartphones will have an OLED screen from BOE, which will offer 1.5K resolution pixels. Other reports have claimed that the displays of all the phones in the S17 will have curved edges.
The camera module on the back will be headlined by a 50-megapixel Sony iMX766V camera, which is expected to come with OIS support. It will be assisted by a 12-megapixel Sony IMX663 telephoto snapper. The other specs of the phone are yet to be revealed.
