A recent leak had revealed that Vivo may announce the Vivo S6 smartphone at the end of this month or early April. However, there was no official confirmation from the Chinese firm. Today, the company took to Weibo to share a teaser of the Vivo S6 5G smartphone.
Vivo has currently three S-series phones in its portfolio in China. It includes the Vivo S1, Vivo S1 Pro and Vivo S5 smartphone. The upcoming Vivo S6 phone will be first phone in the S-series to arrive with support for 5G connectivity. However, nothing else is known about the smartphone.
The company seems to be working on bringing more affordable 5G phones in the home market. The Vivo Z6 5G phone that was announced at the end of February was the first Z-series phone with 5G support. The Vivo S6 5G may not come with the same SD765G. Hence, there is a possibility that the company may make use of a MediaTek 5G chipset.
The Vivo S6 5G will be arriving as the successor for the Vivo S5 that went official in November last year. It featured a 6.44-inch punch-hole screen that supports full HD+ resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio. The Snapdragon 712 chipset powered the device along with 8 GB of RAM. The phone shipped in 128 GB and 256 GB storage choices in China.
The rear shell of the phone sported a 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel + 5-megapixel quad camera setup. It housed a 32-megapixel selfie shooter. The phone featured a 4,100mAh battery that supported 22.5W charging. It also featured an in-screen fingerprint reader.
