Vivo V30 5G: Design
Stunning and elegant! That’s how I would describe the new Vivo V30 5G, especially for the Green Sea edition that I’m holding on to for review. It comes with an attractive greenish-blue color on a sleek glass surface, featuring a stunning water ripple pattern which is achieved using an advanced Rippling Magnetic Particle process to evoke a sense of movement and fluidity to the overall design.
Apart from the new colorway, the new V30 5G also receives a major overhaul to the rear camera design that allows it to be easily distinguished from its predecessor. The newly revamped camera island has two different sections, with the upper-halve section housing its dual-cam system and the lower-halve boasting its signature ”Aura” light feature for delicate portrait shots.

Like any other V series smartphones, the V30 5G maintains a sleek and slim chassis that makes the phone extremely easy to hold and wield, even with one hand. In fact, its the slimmest smartphone to feature a hefty 5,000mAh battery at the point of writing thanks to its exceptionally slim profile measuring just 7.45mm in thickness.
Flipping the phone over, the Vivo V30 5G greets us with a spacious 6.78” display that offers plenty of screen for work and entertainment. The display itself is based on a high-end AMOLED panel that looks sharp and vibrant from all angles. Aside from that, the screen also features an ultra-fast 120Hz refresh rate which greatly improves viewing experience with buttery-smooth visuals especially when gaming.
The main highlight however, lies in its impressive peak brightness that’s able to reach as high as 2,800 nits whenever the situation calls for it. This is actually an important, but often overlooked feature which ensures the screen remains legible even when using the phone under direct sunlight -such as during an outdoor photography session.
Durability-wise, its good to know that the display also uses a more robust glass material that offers better resistance against scratches. Other than that, the V30 5G is also features an IP54-rating for dust and water resistance which provides you a peace of mind when you bring the phone along for any water sport activities.
Vivo V30 5G: Performance & Battery Life
Sitting at the heart of the V30 5G is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 mobile platform which has absolutely no issue handling day-to-day tasks ranging from social media and web browsing to more resource-intensive activities like mobile gaming and video editing.
Memory-wise, the V30 5G features an ample 12GB RAM for seamless multi-tasking experience as well as 256GB onboard storage which allows you to store plenty of apps and other media contents on your device. In the event that the device requires more RAM, the V30 5G also comes with an Extended RAM feature that allows you to add an additional 12GB RAM using the idle storage blocks to give your phone an extra boost of power during multi-tasking.
To keep its lights on, there’s also a respectable 5,000mAh battery under the hood that’s capable of providing more than a day’s usage on a typical work day which include one to two hours of mobile gaming/ video streaming during my daily commuting. Apart from its enduring battery life. the V30 5G also impresses with a lightning-fast 80W wired charging speed that’s able to deliver a full charge in merely 50 minutes despite its large battery capacity.
Vivo V30 5G: Cameras
As far as photography is concerned, the Vivo V30 5G is equipped with a highly versatile dual-cam system that comprises of a 50 megapixels (f/1.9 aperture) main camera and a 50 megapixels (f/2.0 aperture) ultra-wide camera which allow the phone to handle all sorts of shooting scenarios.
The main camera, which uses a top-tier 1/1.55” sensor, is backed by Vivo’s proprietary VCS technology that leverages AI to greatly improve signal-to-noise ratio and color restoration. This results in flattering-looking photos with crisp details and excellent color representation – something which we typically expect to see only on higher-end models that double its price.
Unlike most other mid-range models in the market, the Vivo V30 5G is also one of the few smartphone in the segment to feature OIS stabilization for the main camera unit. This not only allows the camera to capture blur-free photo of night scenes, but also ensures smooth and stable footage when recording video.
As for the ultra-wide camera, its also capable of capturing some pretty good-looking photos with acceptably good amount of details and dynamic range. However, it does suffers a bit when shooting in low-light environments where image noise is occasionally more noticeable and photos may not appear as sharp as those taken by the main camera.

For faraway shots, the Vivo V30 5G is able to support up to 20x zoom factor through digital cropping. Quite surprisingly, photos taken between the 2x to 10x zoom range looks remarkably clear and sharp despite the lack of a dedicated zoom lens.

The new Vivo V30 5G is no doubt a fantastic mid-ranger that punches above its own weight. Despite its affordability, the V30 5G is loaded with plenty of high-end features ranging from a capable chipset to a powerful camera system that will elevate your overall mobile experience.
