Vivo announced the Vivo X Fold, its first foray into the foldables market, in April of last year. In the second half of 2022, the company unveiled the X Fold+, which came with three major upgrades, such as an improved chipset, a bigger battery, and faster charging support. A new leak by tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed the Vivo X Fold 2’s launch timeframe and key specifications.
According to the tipster, the Vivo X Fold 2 will debut as the first-ever foldable phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. The leak further reveals that it will have a pair of 2,340mAh cells, which will offer a combined capacity of 4,800mAh. In addition, the device will support 120W fast charging.
To recall, the original Vivo X Fold came with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, 4,600mAh battery, and 66W fast charging. Its upgraded version, the Vivo X Fold+, came with the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip, a 4,730mAh battery, and 80W charging. Both models support 50W wireless charging. It is likely that the X Fold 2 may also offer 50W wireless charging.
Previous leaks from DCS revealed that the Vivo X Fold 2’s internal display will support 2K resolution. Like the existing models, the outer and inner screens of the X Fold 2 are expected to feature ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensors. It will have a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766V primary camera.
The other specs of the X Fold 2 are yet to be leaked. According to the tipster, it will debut in April this year. It is likely that Vivo’s first clamshell phone with a foldable screen, dubbed the Vivo X Flip, will also debut alongside the X Fold 2.
