In their latest update, Whatsapp will finally bring the along-awaited fingerprint unlock feature to Android users. However, this update is currently available only in several regions, but is expected to extend to other regions in the coming days or weeks.
To enable this feature, simply head down to Settings > Account > Privacy > Fingerprint lock, and then enroll your fingerprint. Needless to say, once this feature is activated, users will need to unlock this app even if they have unlocked their phone previously.
As seen from the above screen grab, there are several options for users to decide how long they want WhatsApp to remain unlocked as well. This could range from 1 minute to as much as 30 minutes.
Since biometric authentication is now available for Android users, we believe it’s must a matter of time before WhatsApp brings face unlock to Android as well.
